Jidai Matsuri 2022 View Stands Map Heian Jingu. The parade tells us what Japanese history is. The Jidai Matsuri parade is one of the largest in Japan with 1700 participants celebrating the history of Kyoto. Heian Jingu Shrine was built in 1895 to commemorate the 1100th anniversary of the founding of Heian-kyo Kyoto.

It was scheduled on Oct 22. It arrives at Heian Jingu shrine around 1000. Heian Shrine also called Heian Jingu was built in 1895 to commemorate the 1100th anniversary of the founding of the cityThe shrine is actually a 58 scale reconstruction of the original Imperial Palace which was built when Kyoto was founded in 794.

The costumes music and symbolism of the event are quite authentic. In this festival over 2000 people parade from Heian Jingu shrine to Kyoto Imperial palace. Jidai Matsuri 時代祭 is held by and at the Heian Jingu Shrine.
